I thought the third CBT was a hit. I watched this game for a while and figured I would give it a try, granted I was only able to play for 1 day of the CBT week3 but I loved the game. I have played WoW since launch and I have been looking for a game that people will actually play. Not a WoW clone like Warhammer tried to do in MANY aspects and a low fan base with maybe 100-200 people playing per server at any given time. I am looking for a game that plays generally the same control wise, but plays its own game play. The character customization really hit the right spot. The 4 "pre" classes are great too, it gets you used to playing both sides of the classes you can choose from at level 10. The game has great graphics, not cartoony at all, and the whole "everyone has anime looking characters" comment is BS, that's the beauty of it... create your own person instead of one of 14 different preset head models. I believe that Aion has playability BECAUSE of its newbie starting area. It is small and doesn't take long to get you to level 9 and leave. It gets you involved in the story, this area shows off the great aspect of what is Aion. Granted its only two races but this isn't WoW.. there isn't 400 races and genders you can choose from (annoying). The starting area does need a little work I will say, but it is only the starting area... WoW stole all the good parts from MMOs throughout the years that came out, now its time someone did it to them. I personally think the "stolen" properties of Aion are better then what they were in the game it was originally from. It also has a Final Fantasy feel to it (what FFXI failed at doing with their own game) which I like.

This game is well worth trying, especially old UO/SWG/DAoC players who were deep into PvP elements (which WoW has been failing on since 2005). Though I am still waiting for an MMO with houses/house battles again.

IMO this game will continue to grow, and I think it will be a "WoW Killer" in many ways. I have seen a TON of WoW players who have already quit to play the Korea release, and who will quit in September for Aion US. No game will surpass WoW until it just gets down right boring, and with 90% of the game base raiding, that wont be long. It will also recruit players from AoC (if people still play lol) as well as Warhammer, and any other MMO out there. Question is, will Aion self destruct itself by releasing the game with 45 servers like most new MMOs out today?

Good article,I agree with you on the WoW killer thing,it annoys the hell out of me that every new game coming out gets that label.
Now on the Aion part, I think the graphics are awesome on the game. WoW is just a little too "cartoonish" looking for me,but did play it for a year and a half.Aion's beging creatures were a little childish looking, like the Mau Gatherers on the Asmodian side but the Black Guards and some sort of Moss Bear(dont know if thats correct name) those guys were pretty wicked looking.
Im surely going to e playing Aion when it comes out, just wanted to put my two cents in =)
